Passover Reminder

Dear Parents,

Pesach (Passover) begins at sundown on Friday, April 19th and continues for 8 days.  In observance of Passover, we need to adhere to some changes in our snacks and the lunches you send for your children.  The following changes will begin on Wednesday, April 17th.

In Preparation for Passover:

Students will learn the story of Passover and why we observe in the way we do.

Also, in preparation, the kitchen will be cleaned. During this time, we cannot use any of the equipment in the preparation for snack and lunch.  For Wednesday, April 17th and Thursday, April 18st, you need to pack your child a lunch that does not need to be warmed, but it can contain bread products.  On Friday, April 19th, the lunch cannot contain bread product but we can heat items.

Food at KJP During Passover:

During Passover, no bread or bread products (including bread, pasta, and crackers) may be brought into the Kehillah.  We will be providing snacks that will include matzah, fruit, vegetables, rice, potatoes, and dairy products. Please pack a lunch that is free of bread products.  The following is a list of suggestions:

  • Tuna salad Egg salad/boiled eggs
  • Hummus
  • Matzah
  • Tam-tams (matzah crackers)
  • Fresh fruit
  • Fresh vegetables
  • Yogurt
  • Cottage cheese
  • Cheese
  • Rice/Rice Pasta

If you need more suggestions, please let me know and I will get more ideas for you.

Also, please remember that KJP and Kehillah Offices will be closed on Friday, April 26th.

Sincerely,
